NSU WRAC will close

Northwestern State University’s NSU’s Wellness, Recreation and Activities Center will abide by Gov. John Bel Edwards’ public health directive intended to curtail the spread of COVID-19 and will close at the end of business hours March 16. The WRAC will remain closed through April 13 when the governor will reevaluate the state public health situation at which time the measures could be extended.

Cancellations and Postponements

Northwestern State University has cancelled or postponed several large events in the wake Gov. John Bel Edwards’ March 13 proclamation to halt gatherings of more than 250 people until April 13.

NSU will transition to online classes as pandemic continues

In response to the ongoing threat of the COVID-19 pandemic, Northwestern State University will suspend all in-person classes effective at the end of the day Friday, March 13, and transition to online instruction and other remote learning alternatives beginning Thursday, March 19.

Open House postponed

Northwestern State University First Lady Jennifer Maggio announced that the open house planned at the Dr. Arnold R. Kilpatrick President’s Home, set for Friday, March 13, has been postponed.

Health and safety top priority as NSU prepares for coronavirus

Beginning immediately, university sponsored or funded non-essential domestic travel is being suspended. Vice-presidents must approve exceptions in their respective areas. Approval will be based on the importance of proposed travel to the university’s mission. All student, faculty and staff international travel has already been suspended. These actions conform with national and worldwide social distancing efforts to help control the spread of coronavirus.

Health Services calls for donations of hand sanitizer, disinfectant

Northwestern State University’s Health Services Office is seeking donations of alcohol-based hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes to make available to students through the NSU Food Pantry. The items are part of NSU’s efforts to prepare for and prevent the possible spread of COVID-19, commonly known as the coronavirus.
